Rocketbook Cloud & AI

  • Rocketbook users wanted to access their scans on a Rocketbook Web App with a dedicated Rocketbook Cloud. With the Rocketbook Cloud, users could switch devices without losing their scan history. This also opened up the potential for a Rocketbook Web App with AI tools - a service that would help users do more with their notes.

  • I did an extensive study on the current state of Cloud and AI and how other apps have implemented these services. I sent out surveys to users and conducted user interviews to identify the scope of this project. In Figma, I designed various screens for the Rocketbook Cloud and a brand new Rocketbook Web App with AI capabilities. Every screen was translated into a prototype that was further tested before production.

  • The Rocketbook Cloud was well received by users. The percentage of user complaints pertaining to losing scans when switching devices went down. Users were also excited to use the Rocketbook Web App and explore how they could apply AI to their notes.

Launching & Testing the Rocketbook Cloud

For the Rocketbook Cloud’s debut in the app, the Cloud was automatically enabled for all users. Every scan that users took would be automatically stored on the Rocketbook Cloud and denoted with a Rocketbook Cloud icon over the scan’s thumbnail. The Rocketbook Cloud was A/B tested with the expectation that users may want to remove individual scans from the Cloud, but our team found that users wanted either everything on the Cloud or nothing at all. In the next update, the Cloud feature could be disabled in the Settings of the Rocketbook App and the thumbnail icon would be removed.
